2014 Early Childhood Research Symposium Wrap-Up
On October 17, ICS brought together more than 160 professionals representing academia, health care, government, and service providers for the second annual South Carolina Early Childhood Research Symposium. The event explored the latest early childhood research with a focus on connecting research, policy and the community to build a stronger early childhood system in our state. Presentations over three tracks were shared with participants: policy and systems, early childhood education, and health and development; poster presentations. The Symposium also featured a panel discussion on linking health, education, policy and the community and an inspiring keynote address by Dr. Peter Gorski of the Children’s Trust of Miami-Dade County.
The Symposium had presenting sponsors Greenville Health System’s Children’s Hospital, Palmetto Health’s Children’s Hospital, and ICS as well as sponsors Greenville County First Steps, Richland County First Steps, and the South Carolina Department of Education. This event built upon the success of 2013’s inaugural Research Symposium and will now be held annually.
